West Lothian
Websites for the West Lothian businesses that never got round to it
If you're not there when someone looks you up, the answer they find is a competitor who is.
West Lothian is the ground between the two cities. Livingston sits in the middle of it, Bathgate and Armadale to the west, Linlithgow with its palace and its loch to the north, Broxburn and Uphall along the road to Edinburgh. The Union Canal runs the length of it and the M8 cuts straight through, which is most of the reason the place looks the way it does.
Being in the middle is the whole problem for a small business here. Glasgow firms treat West Lothian as their east edge and Edinburgh firms treat it as their west edge, and both of them advertise into it. A local business is competing with two cities at once, and the one advantage it has, actually being here, only counts if the website bothers to say so.
We are one of the Glasgow firms, and we are about forty minutes away on the M8, which makes West Lothian the closest thing on this list to home. Most of a build still runs on one phone call and then email, because that is what works, but coming out to Livingston or Bathgate to talk first is no trouble at all. Five pages, £500, whichever way you want it.
- Livingston and Deans. Trades, garages, salons and small practices across the town.
- Bathgate and Armadale. Joiners, electricians and van based services.
- Linlithgow and Winchburgh. Independents, therapists and shops on the north side.
- Broxburn, Uphall and East Calder. Contractors, suppliers and trades run from the house.
- Whitburn, Blackburn and Fauldhouse. Same terms, all covered.

Being found in West Lothian
Squeezed between Glasgow and Edinburgh
We work across West Lothian, from Linlithgow and Winchburgh in the north through Livingston, Deans and Broxburn, west to Bathgate, Armadale and Blackburn, and south to Whitburn, Fauldhouse and the Calders.
Almost nowhere else in Scotland is advertised into from two directions at once. Glasgow firms treat West Lothian as the far end of their patch and Edinburgh firms treat it as the far end of theirs, and both bid on the same searches a local business needs. Sitting in the middle of the M8 is convenient for getting places and inconvenient for being found.
The one thing neither city firm can claim is being here, and that only counts if it is written down. A business in West Lothian that names the place, and names Livingston or Bathgate or Linlithgow specifically, is competing on the one ground where distance is on its side. A business that describes itself as central belt has thrown that away to sound bigger.
What West Lothian businesses get wrong online
Describing the business as central belt or central Scotland.
CommonNobody searches those words. They are what a business says when it does not want to sound small, and the cost is disappearing from every search that names an actual place.
Picking one town and ignoring the rest.
CommonLivingston, Bathgate, Linlithgow and Broxburn are separate searches with separate results, and most trades here already work all of them. Writing one name down covers a quarter of the ground you drive.
Hiding the local base to look like a city firm.
CommonCustomers in West Lothian are actively looking for somebody nearby, because they have been let down by people travelling out from the cities. Sounding like one of them is the wrong disguise.

Why £500 once beats "from £350"
Budget web packages advertise a low headline price, then tie you to a monthly direct debit for a year and a half. Here's how that actually adds up.
| Feature | Savvy Website | Typical pay-monthly package | DIY site builder |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up front | £500 | from £299 | £0 |
| Monthly fees | None you have to pay | £20–£30 a month | £13–£25 a month |
| Minimum term | None | Often 12 to 18 months | Rolling, but forever |
| Cost over 3 years | £540 | around £1,200 | around £700, and rising |
| Who writes the words | We do | Usually you | You |
| Your own domain | Included, first year | Sometimes included | Paid extra |
| Who owns it | You, outright | Usually them | You rent it |
| If you stop paying | Nothing happens | Site comes down | Site comes down |
Our three year figure is £500 plus roughly £20 a year for domain renewal after the first year. One like-for-like note: pay-monthly totals usually include an email inbox and ours doesn't. Email is an optional add-on, priced on request. We do offer optional care plans from £24.99 a month if you'd rather we looked after the site. It is never required, there is no minimum term, and the three year figures above assume you don't take it. Even allowing for that, the gap doesn't close. Comparison figures are typical advertised UK prices for budget and DIY packages in 2026, and minimum terms are those the providers publish themselves. Always check what your own quote includes.
The only clause that matters
£500 fixed. We don't get half of it until you're happy.
£500, fixed. Half gets the build started; the other half is due only once you've approved the finished site. If we can't get it right, you don't pay it, and the site still transfers to you.
- You approve it before the balance is due. Not the other way round.
- We carry the risk. If we can't get it right, you don't pay the balance.
- It's yours outright. Site and domain, both in your name.
The arithmetic, in full
Fixed. That is the whole cost of your website, and there are no monthly fees to us, ever.
- Today, to start the build
- £250
- Once you've approved it
- £250
- Monthly fees, either way
- None

We don't get that second £250 until you tell us the site is right. If we can't get it right, you don't pay it, and the site still transfers to you.

The lot, one price

The work
What a £500 website actually looks like
West Lothian runs on joiners, plumbers, roofers, garages, hairdressers and takeaways, with a lot of them taking work in both Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as at home. Start with Local Conference Solutions, live now.

After you're live · optional
Never want to think about this again?
Once your site is live it is yours. It keeps working whether you pay us another penny or not, and most owners simply renew the domain each year. If you would rather hand the upkeep over, there are two plans. Both are optional, month to month, and neither is mentioned on the call.
- Care plan, £24.99 a month. Hosting, domain, backups, three changes a month and a traffic report. For a site that is live and just needs looking after.
- Success plan, £99 a month. All of that, plus changes as you go, Michael directly rather than a ticket, and half an hour on the phone each month.
- Neither is required. The £500 does not depend on it, and we only raise it near the end of a build if we think it would genuinely help.
The bit that matters
You can take the site and never hear from us again.
Cancel any time, and the site stays yours. It does not come down, it does not get locked, and we hand over every login.
That is not how most monthly website deals work. The usual arrangement is a small setup fee, a direct debit, a minimum term of a year or more, and a site that stops being yours the moment you stop paying. Which is exactly why this is written here rather than buried in terms.
How it works
Four steps, and you're only ever committed to the one you're on
See a free preview
We show you a preview of what your site could look like before you spend a penny. If it's not for you, that's the end of it. No hard feelings.
Start the build
Like the direction? The first half, £250, gets the build under way. We have a quick call about your business so we can write your pages properly.
Site goes live
Your site goes live at your own address about a week after our call. You get up to two rounds of changes to get it just right.
Approve it, or walk away
Approve it and the last £250 completes the £500. If we've not got it right, you don't pay it. The deposit covers the work done and the site is still yours.

- A free plan comes with it. One page: where you come up on Google for what you do, who is above you, and the three things costing you calls. Yours to keep, whether you use us or not.
- We reply within one working day. Usually much sooner.
- No obligation, and no chasing. If it's not for you, that's the end of it.

If we emailed you first, the easiest thing is simply to hit reply.
Questions
What West Lothian businesses ask before getting a website made
My customers come from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Should the site say West Lothian at all?
Yes, and it should say all three. Naming West Lothian is what wins the searches nobody in either city can win, because you are the one who is actually here. Naming Glasgow and Edinburgh as places you travel to is a separate line and it costs nothing to add. Dropping the local one to look bigger is the common mistake and it hands away the only ground you hold outright.
How much does it cost to get a website made in West Lothian?
Across the UK in 2026, freelancers typically charge £800 to £3,000 for a small business website and agencies £2,500 to £10,000. Budget packages advertise from around £299 to £350, but usually add £20 to £30 a month on a minimum term of a year or more, which works out dearer inside two years.
Ours is £500 once, the same price in West Lothian as in Glasgow. The only ongoing cost is about £20 a year for the domain, and that goes to the registrar, not to us. See the full price breakdown →
Will my site be set up to rank in West Lothian searches?
Yes. Your West Lothian location and the areas you cover are written into the pages and the underlying code, so the site says Livingston, Bathgate, Linlithgow, Broxburn, Uphall, Armadale rather than just "Scotland". We also set up or tidy your Google Business Profile, which is what puts you on Google Maps when someone nearby searches for what you do.
Nobody honest will promise you a particular position for £500, and we will not. What we will do is the groundwork properly, which is more than a lot of sites at any price get.
Do you cover the areas around West Lothian too?
Yes. Falkirk, Fife and Stirling are all covered on exactly the same terms, and each has its own page: Falkirk, Fife, Stirling. If your town is not listed, ask anyway, because the answer is nearly always yes. Here is everywhere we cover.
Can you build the whole website for me?
That's the whole idea. We do all of it: the words, the design, the photos, the domain, the hosting and the Google side, then show you the finished site and you tell us what to change.
Your part is a 20 minute phone call and any pictures you've already got on your phone. There's no software for you to learn and nothing for you to write.
Are there any monthly fees?
None that you have to pay. Hosting, the security certificate and backups are included for the first year, and after that the only bill is the domain renewal, about £20 a year, paid directly to the registrar. There's no contract and nothing to cancel.
If you would rather we kept looking after the site there are optional plans from £24.99 a month, but you can take the site and never hear from us again and it will carry on working.
What's the catch with the £500?
There isn't one. We keep the price down by doing one focused job well: a fast, good-looking site that gets you found and gets your phone ringing. £500 is the whole price of the website.
What it doesn't buy is an online shop, a booking system or a custom-built app. Those are real development jobs and cost real money, and if that's what your business needs we'll say so on the call rather than sell you something that won't do it. More questions answered here.
