Websites for the Dundee businesses that never got round to it
If you're not there when someone looks you up, the answer they find is a competitor who is.
Dundee has spent the last decade rebuilding its own front door. The V&A sits on the waterfront next to the Discovery, the Tay bridges run out across the water behind them, and the Law stands over the whole thing. Behind the waterfront the city is the Overgate, the Wellgate and a run of neighbourhoods, Lochee, Hilltown, Stobswell, Broughty Ferry along the coast.
Dundee has been a UNESCO City of Design since 2014, which is a real designation and an awkward one to live under if your own business looks unfinished online. Customers here have been given a decade of reasons to expect things to look considered. A business with no website is not neutral in that context, it reads as a business that has not bothered.
We are Glasgow based, about an hour and a half up the A90. Close enough that coming over for a first meeting is not ridiculous, far enough that we would rather be straight with you: almost nobody needs it. One phone call of about twenty minutes does the same job, and then it is email until you are looking at the finished pages. £500 either way, and the same five pages.
- The waterfront and the city centre. Cafes, salons and small practices around the Overgate and the Wellgate.
- Broughty Ferry and Barnhill. Independents, therapists and services along the coast road.
- Lochee and Charleston. Joiners, electricians and van based trades on the west side.
- Hilltown, Stobswell and Douglas. Garages, workshops and small contractors.
- Menzieshill, Whitfield and Monifieth. Same terms, all covered.

Design is Dundee's own reputation to live up to
We work across Dundee and along the coast from it, from the waterfront, the Overgate and the Wellgate out through Lochee, Charleston and Menzieshill, north to Hilltown, Stobswell and Whitfield, and east to Broughty Ferry, Barnhill and Monifieth.
Dundee has spent ten years telling the world it is a design city, and the waterfront was built to prove it. That is good for the place and slightly awkward for any local business whose own front door looks unfinished. A customer here has been given a decade of reasons to expect things to be considered, and they apply that expectation to a joiner's website as readily as to a gallery.
The practical effect is that a plain, honest, well-built site does more work in Dundee than the same site would elsewhere. It does not need to be clever. It needs to look like somebody cared, load quickly and say what the business does and which parts of Dundee it covers. Most of the competition is still a Facebook page, so the bar to clear is lower than the city's reputation makes it sound.
What Dundee businesses get wrong online
Letting the site look older than the business is.
CommonA page that looks like it was made in 2012 tells a Dundee customer something you did not mean to say. It is the one city in Scotland where that reads loudest.
Treating Broughty Ferry as part of the same search as the city centre.
CommonIt is its own name and its own set of results. Businesses that work both should say both, because half the people searching will never type Dundee at all.
Building the whole site around the waterfront.
CommonThe V&A and the Discovery bring visitors, but most trade in Dundee is people who live in Lochee, Stobswell or Douglas and need something done this week. Write for them first.
Compare the cost
Why £500 once beats "from £350"
Budget web packages advertise a low headline price, then tie you to a monthly direct debit for a year and a half. Here's how that actually adds up.
| Feature | Savvy Website | Typical pay-monthly package | DIY site builder |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up front | £500 | from £299 | £0 |
| Monthly fees | None you have to pay | £20–£30 a month | £13–£25 a month |
| Minimum term | None | Often 12 to 18 months | Rolling, but forever |
| Cost over 3 years | £540 | around £1,200 | around £700, and rising |
| Who writes the words | We do | Usually you | You |
| Your own domain | Included, first year | Sometimes included | Paid extra |
| Who owns it | You, outright | Usually them | You rent it |
| If you stop paying | Nothing happens | Site comes down | Site comes down |
Our three year figure is £500 plus roughly £20 a year for domain renewal after the first year. One like-for-like note: pay-monthly totals usually include an email inbox and ours doesn't. Email is an optional add-on, priced on request. We do offer optional care plans from £24.99 a month if you'd rather we looked after the site. It is never required, there is no minimum term, and the three year figures above assume you don't take it. Even allowing for that, the gap doesn't close. Comparison figures are typical advertised UK prices for budget and DIY packages in 2026, and minimum terms are those the providers publish themselves. Always check what your own quote includes.
The only clause that matters
£500 fixed. We don't get half of it until you're happy.
£500, fixed. Half gets the build started; the other half is due only once you've approved the finished site. If we can't get it right, you don't pay it, and the site still transfers to you.
- You approve it before the balance is due. Not the other way round.
- We carry the risk. If we can't get it right, you don't pay the balance.
- It's yours outright. Site and domain, both in your name.
The arithmetic, in full
Fixed. That is the whole cost of your website, and there are no monthly fees to us, ever.
- Today, to start the build
- £250
- Once you've approved it
- £250
- Monthly fees, either way
- None
Card, Apple Pay or Klarna, handled by Stripe. If you would rather get a price first, start there instead.
We don't get that second £250 until you tell us the site is right. If we can't get it right, you don't pay it, and the site still transfers to you.

After you're live · optional
Never want to think about this again?
Once your site is live it is yours. It keeps working whether you pay us another penny or not, and most owners simply renew the domain each year. If you would rather hand the upkeep over, there are two plans. Both are optional, month to month, and neither is mentioned on the call.
- Care plan, £24.99 a month. Hosting, domain, backups, three changes a month and a traffic report. For a site that is live and just needs looking after.
- Success plan, £99 a month. All of that, plus changes as you go, Michael directly rather than a ticket, and half an hour on the phone each month.
- Neither is required. The £500 does not depend on it, and we only raise it near the end of a build if we think it would genuinely help.
The bit that matters
You can take the site and never hear from us again.
Cancel any time, and the site stays yours. It does not come down, it does not get locked, and we hand over every login.
That is not how most monthly website deals work. The usual arrangement is a small setup fee, a direct debit, a minimum term of a year or more, and a site that stops being yours the moment you stop paying. Which is exactly why this is written here rather than buried in terms.
How it works
Four steps, and you're only ever committed to the one you're on
See a free preview
We show you a preview of what your site could look like before you spend a penny. If it's not for you, that's the end of it. No hard feelings.
Start the build
Like the direction? The first half, £250, gets the build under way. We have a quick call about your business so we can write your pages properly.
Site goes live
Your site goes live at your own address about a week after our call. You get up to two rounds of changes to get it just right.
Approve it, or walk away
Approve it and the last £250 completes the £500. If we've not got it right, you don't pay it. The deposit covers the work done and the site is still yours.

- A free plan comes with it. One page: where you come up on Google for what you do, who is above you, and the three things costing you calls. Yours to keep, whether you use us or not.
- We reply within one working day. Usually much sooner.
- No obligation, and no chasing. If it's not for you, that's the end of it.
- Rather just talk? Call or text Michael directly on 07508 750017, or message on WhatsApp.
If we emailed you first, the easiest thing is simply to hit reply.
Questions
What Dundee businesses ask before getting a website made
Will the site be written for Dundee, or is it a template with the name swapped in?
Written for Dundee. The pages name the parts of the city you work, Broughty Ferry, Lochee, Stobswell or wherever your customers actually are, because those are the words people type. Nothing on this site is a template with a name dropped into it, and you can check that by reading two of our town pages side by side. Tell us your real patch on the first call, about twenty minutes, and it goes in.
How much does it cost to get a website made in Dundee?
Across the UK in 2026, freelancers typically charge £800 to £3,000 for a small business website and agencies £2,500 to £10,000. Budget packages advertise from around £299 to £350, but usually add £20 to £30 a month on a minimum term of a year or more, which works out dearer inside two years.
Ours is £500 once, the same price in Dundee as in Glasgow. The only ongoing cost is about £20 a year for the domain, and that goes to the registrar, not to us. See the full price breakdown →
Will my site be set up to rank in Dundee searches?
Yes. Your Dundee location and the areas you cover are written into the pages and the underlying code, so the site says the Waterfront, V&A Dundee, RRS Discovery, the Overgate, the Wellgate, Dundee Law rather than just "Scotland". We also set up or tidy your Google Business Profile, which is what puts you on Google Maps when someone nearby searches for what you do.
Nobody honest will promise you a particular position for £500, and we will not. What we will do is the groundwork properly, which is more than a lot of sites at any price get.
Do you cover the areas around Dundee too?
Yes. Fife, Aberdeen and Stirling are all covered on exactly the same terms, and each has its own page: Fife, Aberdeen, Stirling. If your town is not listed, ask anyway, because the answer is nearly always yes. Here is everywhere we cover.
Can you build the whole website for me?
That's the whole idea. We do all of it: the words, the design, the photos, the domain, the hosting and the Google side, then show you the finished site and you tell us what to change.
Your part is a 20 minute phone call and any pictures you've already got on your phone. There's no software for you to learn and nothing for you to write.
Are there any monthly fees?
None that you have to pay. Hosting, the security certificate and backups are included for the first year, and after that the only bill is the domain renewal, about £20 a year, paid directly to the registrar. There's no contract and nothing to cancel.
If you would rather we kept looking after the site there are optional plans from £24.99 a month, but you can take the site and never hear from us again and it will carry on working.
What's the catch with the £500?
There isn't one. We keep the price down by doing one focused job well: a fast, good-looking site that gets you found and gets your phone ringing. £500 is the whole price of the website.
What it doesn't buy is an online shop, a booking system or a custom-built app. Those are real development jobs and cost real money, and if that's what your business needs we'll say so on the call rather than sell you something that won't do it. More questions answered here.
