Bearsden

Websites for the Bearsden businesses that never got round to it

If you're not there when someone looks you up, the answer they find is a competitor who is.

Bearsden sits on the northern edge of Glasgow and has been there a very long time. The Roman bath house on Roman Road is the best surviving stonework anywhere on the Antonine Wall. Bearsden Cross is the centre of things, with a run of shops along Drymen Road, and Baljaffray has its own parade further up the hill.

Plenty of Bearsden trade happens on recommendation. But the recommendation gets checked. Someone is given your name at the school gate or over a fence in Kessington, they type it into a phone that evening, and if nothing sensible comes back they move on to the next name on the list. That is the whole problem.

We work from Glasgow's Southside rather than from Bearsden. It is about twenty five minutes by car, through the Clyde Tunnel and up the Switchback to Canniesburn Toll. The distance changes nothing about the job or the price. A site is £500 whether you are five minutes away or up at Mosshead.

  • Bearsden Cross and Drymen Road. Independent shops, salons, opticians and the practices around the centre.
  • Roman Road and Kilmardinny. Small firms and consultancies working out of converted villas.
  • Baljaffray and Mosshead. The parade at Baljaffray Shopping Centre and the trades based on the estates around it.
  • Westerton, Hillfoot and Killermont. Home based businesses and one van trades within walking distance of the stations.
  • Milngavie, Clydebank and Drumchapel. Anything within a short run of Canniesburn Toll is covered too.

Bearsden in detail

Bearsden trades from converted villas and front rooms

Almost nothing in Bearsden is a walk in, which changes what a website has to do before anyone picks up the phone.

Bearsden has no industrial estate and very little purpose built commercial space. Businesses trade from converted villas, first floor rooms above a parade, side doors with a buzzer, and spare bedrooms at the back of family houses. A dental surgery and a solicitor's office can sit in buildings that were designed as homes and still look like homes. Nobody driving past learns anything at all. Your pages are doing the job a shopfront does elsewhere.

Almost nothing here is a walk in. Dentists, private GPs, opticians, vets, accountants, financial advisers, counsellors and podiatrists all work by appointment, and many were established decades ago. That creates questions a passing customer never has to ask. Are you taking new patients or clients this month? Is this NHS, private, or both? Is the person I was told about still the person I would see? A site that answers none of those loses the enquiry quietly.

Trading here is also a solitary business. Bearsden sits outside the levy funded town centre company that Milngavie businesses vote for and pay into, so there is no shared campaign lifting everybody a little. Each business markets itself or does not get marketed. On top of that, the reader is often not the customer. A daughter in London arranging care for a parent, or a family checking the school catchment before they move, will read your five pages far more carefully than any neighbour ever will.

  • The practices along Milngavie Road. Dentists, opticians, private GP and wellness clinics, vets and physios, most of them appointment only and several of them older than the internet. The site's first job is to say whether you are open to new patients, whether the treatment is NHS or private, and which clinician the caller would actually see. Put that near the top and the phone rings for the right reasons.
  • The Old Bearsden Conservation Area. Architects, building firms, roofers, stonemasons, sash window specialists and garden designers working on villas built before the First World War and designated for protection in 1989. Owners here are nervous about consents. Show finished local work, say plainly which jobs needed permission and which did not, and name the trades you bring with you.
  • Boclair House and the function trade around it. Photographers, florists, celebrants, cake makers, hair and make up artists, bands and car hire, all selling to couples who booked a venue first and are now filling in the gaps. Dates are the whole business. A site with undated photographs from four years ago and no way to ask about a specific Saturday loses to one that answers both.
  • The front rooms near Bearsden Academy and Boclair Academy. Tutors, instrumental teachers, sports coaches, childminders and driving instructors working from home or travelling to yours. Parents are handing over a child, so the page has to do things a shop page never does. Show the actual person, the qualifications, the PVG position, where the lesson happens, and what a first session is like.
  • Boclair Road and the big house streets. Home care, gardening, window cleaning, house clearance, mobile chiropody and hairdressing that comes to the door. Often the person reading is a son or daughter hundreds of miles away deciding on behalf of a parent. They need insurance, registration, what a visit costs, and a way to speak to a human before anything is arranged.

Compare the cost

Why £500 once beats "from £350"

Budget web packages advertise a low headline price, then tie you to a monthly direct debit for a year and a half. Here's how that actually adds up.

Our three year figure is £500 plus roughly £20 a year for domain renewal after the first year. One like-for-like note: pay-monthly totals usually include an email inbox and ours doesn't. Email is an optional add-on, priced on request. We do offer optional care plans from £24.99 a month if you'd rather we looked after the site. It is never required, there is no minimum term, and the three year figures above assume you don't take it. Even allowing for that, the gap doesn't close. Comparison figures are typical advertised UK prices for budget and DIY packages in 2026, and minimum terms are those the providers publish themselves. Always check what your own quote includes.

The only clause that matters

£500 fixed. We don't get half of it until you're happy.

£500, fixed. Half gets the build started; the other half is due only once you've approved the finished site. If we can't get it right, you don't pay it, and the site still transfers to you.

  • You approve it before the balance is due. Not the other way round.
  • We carry the risk. If we can't get it right, you don't pay the balance.
  • It's yours outright. Site and domain, both in your name.

The work

What a £500 website actually looks like

Bearsden work tends to come from dentists and opticians, joiners and painters, gardeners and landscapers, private tutors, and the physios working out of rooms near the Cross. Start with Local Conference Solutions, live now.

After you're live · optional

Never want to think about this again?

Once your site is live it is yours. It keeps working whether you pay us another penny or not, and most owners simply renew the domain each year. If you would rather hand the upkeep over, there are two plans. Both are optional, month to month, and neither is mentioned on the call.

  • Care plan, £24.99 a month. Hosting, domain, backups, three changes a month and a traffic report. For a site that is live and just needs looking after.
  • Success plan, £99 a month. All of that, plus changes as you go, Michael directly rather than a ticket, and half an hour on the phone each month.
  • Neither is required. The £500 does not depend on it, and we only raise it near the end of a build if we think it would genuinely help.

The full detail of both plans →

The bit that matters

£0required

You can take the site and never hear from us again.

Cancel any time, and the site stays yours. It does not come down, it does not get locked, and we hand over every login.

That is not how most monthly website deals work. The usual arrangement is a small setup fee, a direct debit, a minimum term of a year or more, and a site that stops being yours the moment you stop paying. Which is exactly why this is written here rather than buried in terms.

How it works

Four steps, and you're only ever committed to the one you're on

01 Free

See a free preview

We show you a preview of what your site could look like before you spend a penny. If it's not for you, that's the end of it. No hard feelings.

02 £250

Start the build

Like the direction? The first half, £250, gets the build under way. We have a quick call about your business so we can write your pages properly.

03 About a week

Site goes live

Your site goes live at your own address about a week after our call. You get up to two rounds of changes to get it just right.

04 £250

Approve it, or walk away

Approve it and the last £250 completes the £500. If we've not got it right, you don't pay it. The deposit covers the work done and the site is still yours.

Questions

What Bearsden businesses ask before getting a website made

Do you actually come out to Bearsden, or is it all done remotely?

Most of it is done by email and phone, because that suits people. The whole build needs one twenty minute call to go over what you do, who you want to reach and what should be on each page. After that we send drafts and you reply with changes. If you would rather sit down with someone, Bearsden is about twenty five minutes from us and we are happy to come out. The price is £500 either way.

I run my practice from home. Do I have to put my home address on the site?

No. You can trade openly without publishing the number of your own front door. We write the pages around the areas you cover and the fact that you see people by appointment, give a phone number and an enquiry route, and leave the street out. On Google we set the listing up as a service area business rather than a pinned address, which is exactly what Google expects from home based practices. If you do want visitors, we put arrival instructions on one clearly signposted page instead.

My rooms are in a converted villa with no sign outside. How does anyone find the door?

This is more common in Bearsden than anywhere else we work, and it is fixable on one page. We photograph the actual entrance you want people to use, name the buzzer or the plate they should look for, say which floor you are on, and describe the building from the pavement. Then parking, because that is the next question. Then a line on stairs or level access. Ten minutes of detail removes most of the phone calls that start with someone standing outside.

Our practice still carries the name of the person who founded it. Should the website change it?

Keep the name. It is the thing people were given when somebody recommended you, and throwing it away costs you more than it gains. What the site has to do is stop the name being the only thing on the page. Show the people practising now, with their registration numbers and a line each on what they do. Say when the practice was established and who runs it today. That way the old name reassures rather than confuses, and nobody arrives expecting someone who retired.

How much does it cost to get a website made in Bearsden?

Across the UK in 2026, freelancers typically charge £800 to £3,000 for a small business website and agencies £2,500 to £10,000. Budget packages advertise from around £299 to £350, but usually add £20 to £30 a month on a minimum term of a year or more, which works out dearer inside two years.

Ours is £500 once, the same price in Bearsden as in Glasgow. The only ongoing cost is about £20 a year for the domain, and that goes to the registrar, not to us. See the full price breakdown →

Will my site be set up to rank in Bearsden searches?

Yes. Your Bearsden location and the areas you cover are written into the pages and the underlying code, so the site says Bearsden Cross, Westerton, Hillfoot, Kessington, Baljaffray, Mosshead rather than just "Scotland". We also set up or tidy your Google Business Profile, which is what puts you on Google Maps when someone nearby searches for what you do.

Nobody honest will promise you a particular position for £500, and we will not. What we will do is the groundwork properly, which is more than a lot of sites at any price get.

Do you cover the areas around Bearsden too?

Yes. Milngavie, Bishopbriggs and Clydebank are all covered on exactly the same terms, and each has its own page: Milngavie, Bishopbriggs, Clydebank. If your town is not listed, ask anyway, because the answer is nearly always yes. Here is everywhere we cover.

Can you build the whole website for me?

That's the whole idea. We do all of it: the words, the design, the photos, the domain, the hosting and the Google side, then show you the finished site and you tell us what to change.

Your part is a 20 minute phone call and any pictures you've already got on your phone. There's no software for you to learn and nothing for you to write.

Are there any monthly fees?

None that you have to pay. Hosting, the security certificate and backups are included for the first year, and after that the only bill is the domain renewal, about £20 a year, paid directly to the registrar. There's no contract and nothing to cancel.

If you would rather we kept looking after the site there are optional plans from £24.99 a month, but you can take the site and never hear from us again and it will carry on working.

What's the catch with the £500?

There isn't one. We keep the price down by doing one focused job well: a fast, good-looking site that gets you found and gets your phone ringing. £500 is the whole price of the website.

What it doesn't buy is an online shop, a booking system or a custom-built app. Those are real development jobs and cost real money, and if that's what your business needs we'll say so on the call rather than sell you something that won't do it. More questions answered here.
